Person, Tree, House

First Friday- September 4th-
PoetHouse presents "Person, Tree, House" a group show that expands on a simple, ten minute crayon drawing. Drawing three images- a person, a tree, and a house (accompanied by questions delving into the reasoning for the composition) are often used as a psychological assessment; the resident artists have re-render the original drawings using their own media while retaining the images and the relationships of the original page. How psychologically sound are these artists? Come decide. Opening reception begins at 6pm.

PoetHouse Art will be sponsoring a juried show on Friday, October 30th.  Submissions are open to any media meditating on the idea of Memento Mori, a genre of artistic creations focusing on the latin phrase which means "Remember you shall die."  Artwork is due for the judging process by 5pm, October 20th, at the PoetHouse along with  a $5 entry fee.

A couple Rules:

  •  PoetHouse Art and the Jury of the show will be responsible for the hanging of said show, artists will be  responsible for drop off and pick up of all artwork.
  •  Art work will be on view from October 30th until approximately November 5th.
  •  There will be one prize given for Best Of Show, which will be decided upon by the judge of the show and will  be given based on creativity and craftsmanship.
  •  Entry fee is non-refundable, and PoetHouse reserves the right to accept or deny submission on any grounds.
  •  Entry is limited to one piece per artist, all mediums considered and encouraged.
  •  Submissions not chosen for the show will be contacted for pick up by Wednsday, October 29th.
  •  Submissions should be labeled with artist, title, and medium on the back of piece, along with contact info, and  price if applicable.  (PoetHouse does not require commission, but would appreciate it if you share the love)

Blue Ribbons, Baby!

Many thousand thanks to ALL our PoHO friends and supporters who took the time to nominate the Poet House for Best Art Gallery in The Source's "best of Bend" awards... We got honorable mention (aka second place) which after only being around a little over a year, is a huge humbling and wonderful thing.
Enjoy the photos from the awards banquet.

Cool art Link of the Day.

Unfortunately, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis only stays open until 5pm on Tuesdays, and this wandering PoetHouse Resident will not be able to go see art today.  (Maybe the Mall of America instead?) Still- the website for the Art Center is pretty cool- so here you go.
